Force transducer operation

The force transducers of the CMC+ series operate in accordance with the
piezoelectric principle. Compressive forces are transferred via pre-stressed
force application surfaces onto the two measuring elements made of quartz
(nominal (rated) forces 50 kN, 70 kN and 120 kN) or gallium phosphate (nomi­
nal (rated) force 25 kN). They separate the electrical charges in proportion to
the force curve. Charges are produced on the surface of the measuring ele­
ments that are forwarded by an electrode between the measuring element and
the sensor housing to the force transducer's male connector. If a charge ampli­
fier is connected via a suitable cable, the charge signal can be converted into a
voltage signal or a digital force signal.
