Force transducer operation
The force transducers of the CMC+ series operate in accordance with the
piezoelectric principle. Compressive forces are transferred via pre-stressed
force application surfaces onto the two measuring elements made of quartz
(nominal (rated) forces 50 kN, 70 kN and 120 kN) or gallium phosphate (nomi
nal (rated) force 25 kN). They separate the electrical charges in proportion to
the force curve. Charges are produced on the surface of the measuring ele
ments that are forwarded by an electrode between the measuring element and
the sensor housing to the force transducer's male connector. If a charge ampli
fier is connected via a suitable cable, the charge signal can be converted into a
voltage signal or a digital force signal.
