c) Checking water cooling
When the model boat is moving, water is forced into an
opening (1) on the underside of the hull, which cools the
motor and the speed controller.
The outlet for the cooling water is located on the side of
the model boat.
Before using the model boat, check that the water cooling
system is working properly. To do this, use e.g. a small
piece of hose to blow air into the water cooling inlet. The
air blown must come out of the outlet.
Also check the model boat hoses for damage or kinks.
Never operate the model boat with a faulty water cooling system. This can lead to overheating and cause
damage to the motor and the speed controller, which will void the warranty/guarantee!
d) Greasing the drive shaft
The drive shaft must be greased on a regular basis. Lu-
bricate the shaft when the amount of water that leaks into
the hull is higher than usual and/or when the motor makes
an unusual noise.
You should therefore completely dismantle the shaft at
regular intervals by unscrewing the two grub screws (see
Figure 14, no. 1, 2) with a 2 mm hexagon key.
You can then remove the shaft by pulling it backwards (re-
move the propeller in advance if necessary).
Clean the shaft and apply a thin layer of biodegradable
grease on it.
Replace the shaft by following the above steps in the re-
verse order.
Before screwing the two grub screws, always apply a
small drop of thread locking compound on them so that
they do not get loose.
Finally, apply a small drop of biodegradable oil on the mo-
tor drive shaft bearing (see Figure 14, no. 3). This protects
the bearing from corrosion.
