8. Basic operation

FIRE HAZARD!
Place the device on a dry, level, non-slip
and heat-resistant surface.
The device must not be operated close
to flammable liquids or materials, or in
a potentially explosive environment.
Keep at a distance of at least 50 cm
from walls and other objects.
DANGER! Risk of injury
through burning!
During operation, the metal surfaces of
the device may become hot. Do not
touch the hot parts of the device e.g. the
lid 24 or the bottom part 23 of the bar-
becue.
During operation, only touch the device
by the handle 25, the control elements
or the support dish 22.
Ensure that children do no play in the vi-
cinity of the device, or knock over or
pull down the device.

Connecting the device
and switching it on
1. Place the desired accessory onto the
holders 34.
Please see the table with the cooking
methods (see "The cooking methods at
a glance" on page 17).
NOTE: lightly oil the top of the coated bar-
becue plate 13 before barbecuing. Use a
kitchen towel with a little cooking oil driz-
zled onto it.
2. Put on the lid 24.
3. Set the temperature control 17 to OFF
to switch off the heating element 15.
4. Insert the mains plug 19 into an easily
accessible earthed wall socket whose
voltage matches the voltage stated on
the rating plate. The control light 18 is
lit.
5. Slide the temperature control 17 to-
wards MAX until it is in the desired
temperature range. When the heating
element 15 is switched on or off by the
thermostat, you will hear a click.
6. You can watch the temperature rising on
the thermometer 32. Allow the device
to preheat to the desired temperature.
8.2
Controlling the
temperature
The optimal temperature depends above all
on the foods used, but also on the cooking
method.
The temperature control 17 allows you in-
finitely variable control of the temperature:
• To preheat, set the temperature con-
trol 17 to MAX for approx. 15 min-
utes.
• If the food is cooking too slowly, in-
crease the temperature. To do this, turn
the temperature control 17 a little to-
wards MAX.
• If the food is cooking too quickly, re-
duce the temperature. To do this, turn
the temperature control 17 a little to-
wards MIN.
• If you want to keep grilled food warm,
set the temperature control 17 between
MIN and OFF.
• With the lid 24 closed, you can read
the temperature on the thermometer 32
and readjust it accordingly with the tem-
perature control 17.
