6. Before initial use

FIRE HAZARD!
Place the device on a dry, level, non-slip
and heat-resistant surface.
The device must not be operated close
to flammable liquids or materials, or in
a potentially explosive environment.
Keep at a distance of at least 50 cm
from walls and other objects.
NOTE: when in operation for the first time,
some smoke and odour may be generated
by the device. This is related to materials
used on the heating elements during assem-
bly, and is not a defect with the device. En-
sure adequate ventilation or perform the first
heating up outdoors.
• Clean the device prior to its first
use (see "Cleaning and storing" on
page 22)!
1. Ensure that the heating element 15 is
switched off. The temperature con-
trol 17 must be set to OFF.
2. Insert the mains plug 19 into an easily
accessible earthed wall socket whose
voltage matches the voltage stated on
the rating plate. The control light 18 is
lit.
3. Set the temperature control 17 to
MAX. When the heating element 15 is
switched on or off by the thermostat 16,
you will hear a click.
4. Leave the device switched on for
15 minutes.
5. Set the temperature control 17 to OFF
to switch the heating element 15 off
again.
6. Pull out the mains plug 19 and allow
the device to cool.
7. Clean the device again (see "Cleaning
and storing" on page 22).
