Barbecuing

1. When the barbecue is preheated to the
desired temperature, open the lid 24
and place the food you wish to cook.
You can place the lid 24 on the lid
holder 37.
NOTES:
• Use heat-resistant barbecue utensils. For
the coated accessories (coated barbe-
cue plate 13, lower heat reflector
plate 12), use barbecue utensils made
from wood or heat-resistant plastic, in
order to avoid damaging the coatings.
• The various cooking methods are de-
scribed in more detail in the following
chapters.
2. Replace the lid 24 in order to maintain
the heat inside the device.
3. Check the temperature on the thermom-
eter 32 during the barbecuing process,
and adjust it using the temperature con-
trol 17 as required.
NOTE: grease and cooking juices collect in
the centre of the bottom part 23 and flow
down into the grease collector 21.

Switching off the
device
1. To switch the heating element 15 off
again, slide the temperature control 17
to OFF.
NOTE: the heating element 15 is only
switched off when the temperature con-
trol 17 is set to OFF. Between OFF and
MIN, the heating element 15 heats only
slightly, but is not switched off.
2. Disconnect the mains plug 19 after use.
3. Allow the device to cool down before
you clean it.

Overheating protection

The device is fitted with overheating protec-
tion. This will automatically switch the device
off when the heating element 15 exceeds a
certain temperature. When the device has
cooled down, it will switch itself back on.

9. Smoking

The smoker box 36 additionally allows the
barbecued food to be enhanced with smoke
flavours.
NOTE: this cooking method is not a com-
plete smoking process that can be used for
the preservation of food. The actual cooking
process itself takes place by barbecuing.
You need special wood shavings called
'smoking chips' or 'wood chips', which are
sold for this purpose. Various types of wood
are available for different flavours.
When exposed to high temperatures, the
wood chips start to burn. They burn slowly
and produce smoke.
