4 Transportation

In a few simple steps, the BRAVO Racer can be disassembled into several units which are easier
to store. Remove the rear wheels by pressing the button on the quick-release axle as described in
the previous chapter (Figure 4). Unlock the backrest using the cable control (Figure 5). Remove
the seat padding, if necessary. Now fold the backrest forward until it locks (Figure 6).
Risk of accident� During assembly, it is essential to ensure that the backrest is folded

back to the stop and the quick-release axles for the rear wheels are securely locked in the axle
housings. It must not be possible to remove the wheel unless the button is pressed. Check the
function of the wheel locks.
4.1 Transfer (Getting Into and Out of the Wheelchair)
There are basically two ways of getting into and out of the wheelchair. Children should use the
footplate as a step for getting into and out of the wheelchair.
Risk of injury when using the footplate for getting into the wheelchair� Depending

on footplate settings and wheelchair geometry, the wheelchair may tip over if the user boards
the chair using the footplate. First practise boarding the chair with the child and an attendant
who can secure the wheelchair, and modify footplate and seat height settings if the chair has a
tendency to tip over. In addition, turn the caster fork to the front prior to using the footplate for
getting into the wheelchair; this increases the wheelbase and thereby the wheelchair's stability
against tipping.
Risk of pinching between the wheel lock lever and side panel� Reaching into the

recess of the clothing protector side panel must be avoided.
First activate the wheel locks (Figure 7). Have the child practise getting into and out of the chair
until the child can do so confidently. Whether the child requires assistance from an attendant
should be decided on an individual basis. The front frame can be used as a grip or support for
stepping on the footplate (Figure 8).
Risk of pinching between the brake block and rear wheel� When getting into the wheel-

chair using the front frame, the user must grasp the front frame in front of the brake block.
