Setting flexion damping (
► For setting flexion damping, see Figure
: Increase flexion damping
: Decrease flexion damping
► CAUTION! The lower leg of the prosthesis must not swing through too far in the dorsal direc
tion at the beginning of the swing phase.
Set flexion damping so that the lower leg of the prosthesis swings through in the dorsal direc
tion according to the patient's requirements, but reaches full extension in a timely manner for
the next heel strike.
Setting extension damping (
► For setting extension damping, see Figure
: Increase extension damping
: Decrease extension damping
► CAUTION! The prosthetic knee joint has to reach full extension before the heel strike, even at
a slow walking speed. Observe the information under the heading "Fine-tuning the settings".
► Adjust extension damping so that the prosthetic knee joint does not swing too hard against the
extension stop and so that the prosthetic foot swings through sufficiently according to the
needs of the patient.
Fine-tuning the settings
► CAUTION! If the settings cannot be fully adjusted to the comfort needs of the patient, the set
tings must be established primarily based on safety aspects. The extension position has to be
reached with every step and at any walking speed.
► Adapt the settings of the prosthetic knee joint to the patient by means of fine-tuning and exer
cises.
► Check the adjustment of the prosthesis settings during normal consultations and every
3 months during the safety inspection.
Advise the patient and guardian to have the prosthesis inspected if changes in function occur.
7.5 Attaching the cosmetic cover
CAUTION
Use of highly hygroscopic particles (grease-absorbent substances such as talcum)
Risk of injury, damage to the product due to lack of lubrication
Do not allow the product to come into contact with highly hygroscopic particles.
► Note the following points for attaching the cosmetic cover:
Adapt the cosmetic cover to the patient and mount it on the prosthesis.
Check the settings from the dynamic trial fitting.
► To reduce friction and to eliminate noise, apply 519L5 Silicone Spray directly onto the contact
surfaces of the cosmetic foam cover.
7.6 Finishing the prosthesis
► CAUTION! To avoid a risk of falling, replace set screws that are too short with longer ones.
► Replace set screws that are too long and can cause product damage (for instance through
collision or friction) with shorter ones.
► Before the patient leaves the fitting area, finish the prosthesis by tightening all screw connec
tions. In doing so, note the instructions for use for all prosthetic components regarding install
ation torque values and thread lock.
