Lubrication

OR drive heads: use SAE 80W/90 oil for ambient temperature up to 35 °C and SAE 85W/90 oil for ambient temperature over
35 °C.
The oil quantity is reported in table. 1.
Fill up with oil up to the level marked on the dipstick. This dipstick should be used to regularly check the oil level in the drive
head (fig. 19).
The drive head is usually provided free of oil. Before start-up is therefore necessary to proceed with
lubrication.
ME drive heads: These drive heads are lubricated by grease. Usually the head is delivered from the factory already full of
grease and therefore no lubrication is required before starting. However, it is necessary to check the status of the grease in
case there has been a long storage, or a prolonged period of stop. The drive head is equipped with greaser. Use EP2
grease.

Use

Drive heads with stuffing box: For the first 15 minutes of running, let the water run out of the stuffing box. After this, tighten
the two nuts on the stuffing box flange until only a small stream of waterflows out - this to lubricate the stuffing box flange (1-
2 drops per second). Proceed by successive small variations interspersed by a few minutes of operation to allow the adjustment
of the gland packing.
6.

INSTALLATION OF THE SYSTEM PIPES

6.1. Ensure that the system pipes are independently supported and do not weigh down on the set manifolds so as
to avoid deformation or breaking of any of its components.
6.2. It is advisable to insert vibration-damping couplings when connecting the suction and delivery pipes to the system,
especially when installing Diesel motor pumps.
6.3. Ensure that the characteristics of the water supply source are such as always to guarantee the flow rate
required in the expected operating conditions.
