P-Ring

A ring offers a faster, redundant recovery time than a spanning tree topology. The
effect is similar to the one with STP and RSTP, the algorithms, however, are not
equal.
Every switch in a ring topology has to activate the ring function and to assign two
member ports. Only one switch in the ring group is set as backup-switch, which
blocks one of the two member ports and is called backup-port. The other one is
called working port.
The two member ports of other switches are also called working ports.
