MRI Tuloc
The following steps must be adhered to prior to the application:
1. Check that the package has not been opened or damaged before use; check the sterility date.
2. Open the package.
Note:
The shaft and the double arches of the marking wire are situated within the hypodermic needle in the delivered
condition. Before using the marking wire, ensure that both of the annular markings behind the cannula handle are
visible (Figure 3, C). In this position, the arches of the wire are positioned completely within the cannula.
Application:
3. Local disinfection and administration of local anesthetic in the insertion area.
4. Use the scalpel to carry out an incision in the puncture site to facilitate the insertion into the skin.
5. Needle insertion: insert the needle under imaging guidance into the mamma such that the tip of the needle
reaches the tumor itself or the tumor region.
6. After achieving the target point, you can place a rolled wire into the tumor area (Figure 2, B). To achieve this,
you should hold the needle position and introduce the wire into the cannula in the direction from the proximal
to the distal point. Then the rolled wire should be completely deployed, as soon as the marking reaches the
needle insertion (Figure 2, A). Note: The wire may be pushed into the cannula only until the last visible
marking on the wire (A) has been inserted into the cannula attachment!
7. Prior to the removal of the needle, a proper positioning of the rolled wire can be inspected. Should the position
be other than optimal, the wire can be withdrawn into the cannula. After rectifying the needle position, the wire
can be deployed again according to the description in point 6 for preoperative marking.
8. Remove the needle from the mamma carefully.
9. Slide the opened fixation part over the wire almost to the surface of the skin of the breast. Important: The
breast must be decompressed when this is done. There must still be some space been skin and fixation part.
The wire must lie between the brackets (Figure 4, D) of the fixation part. The wire is fixed through the closure
being locked in place (Figure 4, E). This measure prevents the risk of change in position of the wire along the
distal end.
10. Treat the wound.
11. Dispose the product properly in a suitable container.
Storage:
Protect from moisture. Keep dry.
Keep away from sunlight and heat (temperature 5 – 30 °C / 41 – 86 °F).
