How to lower the folding side protection:
1) Insert a tool into the pin that locks the protection.
2) Push the pin along its axis until the rotational movement of the
protection has been released.
3) Lower the protection to the work position until the locking pin
automatically fi ts into hole "X" (see fi g.95) and locks the protection
in the lowered work position (fi g.94).

4.16 IN WORK

Begin work with the pto at running rate, gradually digging the ma-
chine into the soil. Avoid depressing the accelerator pedal to an
excessive extent when the pto is engaged.
This could cause serious damage to both the machine and the
tractor.
To choose the best soil working degree, it will be necessary to
consider certain factors, i.e.:
- the nature of the soil (medium texture - sandy - clayey, etc.);
- the work depth;
- the advancement speed of the tractor;
- optimum machine adjustment.
A through crumbling of the soil is obtained with a low forward
speed of the tractor; the crumbling effect is reduced by increasing
the speed.
CAUTION
Never allow the machine to operate out of the soil.
During work, avoid turning corners while the implement is soil
working. Never work in reverse (fi g.97, fi g.98).
Always raise the implement in order to reverse or change
direction.
During transport, or whenever the implement must be raised,
it is advisable to adjust the lift unit of the tractor so that the
implement itself is not raised more than about 35 cm from the
ground (fi g.99).
Do not drive on public highways if the machine is dirtied with
soil, grass or anything else that could dirty and/or hamper
the road traffi c.
Lower the machine slowly to allow the blades to gradually
penetrate the soil. Do not allow it to drop violently on to the
ground. To do this would strongly stress all the machine
components and could damage them.

4.17 HOW IT WORKS

Engage the pto according to the desired degree of soil working
and the work depth of the machine. Now begin to advance with the
tractor, progressively lowering the machine into the soil.
Cover a short distance and then check whether the desired effect
is obtained.
The work depth for machines with rear rollers is established by
adjusting the roller by means of the central or side jacks (mechani-
cal or hydraulic).
CAUTION
In order to prevent breakages or damage, the speed of the
tractor must never exceed 8 Km/hour when the implement is
working (fi g.100).
