6. Connections and Control Elements
8) EFF control
The EFF control is used to mix a separate EFFECT sum signal (output signal) at the EFFECT socket. The signal
for the EFF control is output downstream (POST fader) of the channel fader. Changes at the channel fader will
influence the EFFECT output signal. It is therefore suitable for controlling an effect device. The processed
EFFECT signal can be returned through the normal channel inputs (mono and stereo).
The signal at the EFFECT socket cannot be processed with the internal effect generator.
If the EFFECT sum signal is to be returned through one channel, the EFF control for the chan-
nel must be at the left stop. If the EFF control is not at the left stop, there is a danger of feed-
back.
9) Channel fader
The mono/stereo channel level as compared to the overall signal (MAIN output) is set with the channel fader. The
channel control should always be returned to the "-∞" position when the channel is not used.
10) PEAK LED
The PEAK LED can be used to visually monitor the input level of the mono/stereo channel. To prevent overmo-
dulation or distortion of the signal, the PEAK LED should not light up. Turn the GAIN control back and check the
equalizer control settings for the channel if required.
11) PHANTOM switch
For operation of a condenser microphone, a phantom voltage can be applied to the XLR sockets. This switch is
used to switch the PHANTOM voltage +48V on or off for all MIC sockets. If operation of the microphone does not
require phantom voltage, switch it off before connecting the microphone. Press this button to switch on phantom
voltage. The +48V LED is lit when the PHANTOM voltage is switched on.
Use the PHANTOM voltage for condenser microphones only. Only use symmetric cables for
connecting a condenser microphone.
12) Stereo input
The stereo channel is equipped with two symmetrical (balanced) 6.3mm LINE jack sockets to which a device with
a STEREO-LINE output can be connected. This socket can also be connected to asymmetric (unbalanced) jacks.
In this case, use short cables to avoid the danger out outside interference as far as possible.
13) CD/TAPE INPUT socket (cinch)
Mainly the outputs of a recording device (e.g. CD recorder) are connected to these asymmetrical cinch input
sockets. This input can also be used as an additional stereo input, e.g. for connection of a CD player.
