3. General notes
3.1 This is a multipurpose welding machine with scanner and manual data input of the time/voltage
parameters for electrofusion bushings in polyethylene.
3.2 The welding voltage for the terminal connectors is less than 50 V. This enables the operator to work
safely and according to the standards.
It is possible to work at a temperature between – 10°C and + 45°C.
3.3 The welding machine has an RS 232 serial output for connection to a printer. This enables
transferring data from the memory to paper with regard to the welding cycles performed. It is also
possible to transfer data to a PC using the HYPER TERMINAL programme in the Windows operating
system (standard in PCs).
3.5 The preparatory operations for welding (scraping and cleaning of the pipes to be welded) are
essential for a perfect welding result. Even if the equipment displays a message regarding the
correct performance of the welding cycle, the equipment cannot verify if the preparatory welding
operations have been carried out, or whether they have been done properly. ALWAYS PERFORM THE
PREPARATORY OPERATIONS CAREFULLY PRIOR TO STARTING TO WELD.
3.6 The electrofusion bushings have 2 small nozzles (welding indicators), the release of which at the end
of the heating cycle indicates that it has been performed.
CAUTION: their mere release does not indicate the success of the welding operation but only that
the heating procedure has been performed.
3.7 The welding machine automatically regulates the welding time in accordance with the outside
temperature. As such, different duration values for the heating cycle at different times do not
necessarily indicate incorrect operation.
3.8 The time/date functions also work if the machine is at a standstill thanks to an internal battery which
has a minimum service life of 5 years.
3.9 Special devices protect the equipment from overvoltages and undervoltages over a range of
190÷260 V and at frequencies between 45 and 55 Hz.
It is worth verifying the energy source to be used prior to starting the equipment.
NOTE: POWER GENERATOR SETS MINIMUM OUTPUT 5 kVA
3.10 CAUTION: Every 12 months as from the test date, the equipment will issue a message
(MAINTENANCE REQUIRED) which refers to the periodical service.
Send the equipment to ROTHENBERGER as soon as possible in order to carry out the checks required
according to standards UNI 10566 and ISO 12176/2.
If the equipment is used manually in applications with George Fisher bushings the welding
time value is that which is applicable to the temperature range between 15 and 30
degrees.
