To prevent this effect, the charger features a discharge program and a maintenance
program with 1 x and 3 x discharge/charging (refresh function).
You can select between 2A for normal accumulators and 20A for high-capacity accu-
mulators. Set the discharge current via the switch (11) „Discharge Select".
To ensure the impeccable function of an accumulator after longer
periods of use (without memory effect), NiCd accumulators should
only be charged when empty. In addition, the accumulators should
be charged/discharged once a month (spontaneous discharge,
capacity loss).
Accumulator discharge
Proceed as follows for accumulator discharge:
Select the accumulator type as described in the chapter „Commissioning - Accumu-
lator connection" and connect the accumulator.
The slow charge process starts and the green indicator blinks.
Press the MODE button (9) three times. The charger confirms your entry with 3 beeps
and switches to discharge mode. This is signaled by the blue indicator (6).
The discharge process can be interrupted at any time by pressing the button
„MODE" (9).
By selecting the display „Capacity", you can check the discharged capacity.
Once the final discharge voltage is reached, the charger automatically switches to
trickle charge mode.
Observe the proper selection of the charge current.
Refresh function
Accumulators with a bad capacity can be regenerated by selecting a specific
discharge/charge program with one or several cycles.
A discharge/charge cycle is used for partially charged accumulators. Here the accu-
mulator is discharged prior to charging.
Proceed as follows:
- Select the accumulator type as described in the chapter „Commissioning - Accu-
mulator connection" and connect the accumulator.
Observe the proper selection of the discharge current.
