c) Inserting the battery, selecting operating mode, setting charge/
discharge current
• Insert an AA/Mignon or AAA/Micro battery, using the correct polarity (follow plus/+ and mi-
nus/-, see label in battery compartment or on battery) into any battery slot (2).
• The battery voltage appears in the associated LC display; after 4 seconds a charge current of
"200 mA" is shown. After a further 4 seconds the charging process starts.
If a different operating mode or charge current is needed, it must be changed within the 8
second period. Alternatively, please see chapter 8. d) or 8. e).
If after inserting the battery no voltage is displayed, either the battery contacts are
oxidised/high-impedance or the battery is fully discharged/broken.
• While the voltage of the battery is displayed (4 seconds) or the charge current "200 mA" after
that (also 4 seconds), you can select the operating mode by repeatedly pressing the "MODE"
button (6); the "CURRENT" (4) button sets the charge or discharge current (depending on
the selected operating mode).
d) Subsequently changing the operating mode or charge/discharge
current for an individual battery slot
After inserting a battery, the voltage of the battery is displayed for 4 seconds, followed by the
charge current "200 mA" for another 4 seconds. The charge cycle then begins.
If you need to change the operating mode or charge current, proceed as follows:
• Press the control key (3) for the battery slot you want to change the operating mode or
charge/discharge current for. The corresponding LCD display flashes.
• Select the operating mode by briefly pressing the "MODE" (6) button.
• Change the charge/discharge current (depending on the selected operating mode) by briefly
pressing the "CURRENT" button (4).
• Wait a few seconds for the settings to be applied.
