d) Practical flight tips for the first start
Even if the model can fly in the narrowest spaces, for the first test flights, we recommend using a free space of
about 3 x 3 m.
The support should be flat (tiles, parquet flooring, or similar) to allow you to determine already before the take off
if the model tends to drift off in a particular direction.
Place yourself exactly behind your helicopter. As long as you can see your model from behind, the latter will react
to the control commands: right, left, forward, backward exactly as you see it.
Whereas, if the cockpit of the model points towards you, it reacts exactly the opposite way from your steering
commands at the transmitter.
To start, lift the helicopter approx. 0 – 30 cm from the ground, in order to be able to have it touch down quickly
in case of an emergency landing.
In case of an emergency landing, do not retract the Pitch stick too quickly, as the helicopter will touch down very
hard.
If the rotors are blocked by an obstacle, then pull the Pitch stick immediately in the lowest position in order to
switch off the drive motors.
At the start location, draw a marking on the ground and try maintaining the helicopter hovering over the marking.
If after a few flights you develop a keen sense of your helicopter, you can carry out further opti-
mizations.
Attention!
If you notice after a few minutes that the motor power of the helicopter is decreasing, then stop
operation immediately; let the flight battery cool off then charge it again.
Avoid, in any case, a total discharge of the flight battery!
Before flying again wait until the drive and the electronics of the helicopter cool off. Otherwise,
the drive and the electronics can be damaged due to overheating. Wait for at least 10 minutes
before running the next flight.
Do not leave the rechargeable battery connected to the helicopter if the latter is not used (e.g.
during transport or storage). Otherwise, the battery pack can be fully discharged and thus dest-
royed/unusable!
PC-Link
The remote control transmitter can also be used to control PC games or for flight training with a flight simulation
program. The control system data is transmitted via a connection cable from your transmitter directly to the PC.
This way valuable experience can be gained for real flights, while going easy on your equipment.
e) Trimming the helicopter
Push the Pitch stick carefully forward and observe the response of your model. Shortly before the helicopter starts
hovering, you can already determine in which direction your model wants to move.
If the helicopter wants to turn to the right with the tip of the fuselage, then reduce the speed and push the steering
trim for the Tail function gradually to the left.
Push the Pitch stick carefully forward and check if the adjustment was sufficient.
Repeat the procedure until the model does not show any tendency to drift to the right.
If the tip of the fuselage turns to the left, carry out a right trim adjustment.
If the helicopter wants to turn or to tilt sideways to the right, then reduce the speed and push the steering trim for
the Roll function gradually to the left.
