fuse holders is not permitted. To change the fuses, disconnect the mea-
suring instrument from the circuit being measured and switch it off.
Remove all connected leads, adapters and test probes. Select a suitable
crosshead screwdriver and carefully open the housing.
In this connection, note the following illustration:
Opening the unit
Remove the defective fuse(s) and replace with identical type(s) and
nominal current ratings. For the mA range, fuse F1: 0.5 A quick-blow, 250
V; usual description: F0.5A/250 V or F500mA/250V. For the A range, fuse
F2: 20 A, quick-blow, 250 V; usual description: F20A/250 V.
Having successfully changed the fuse(s), carefully close and screw the
case up once more, in reverse order.
Only put the measuring instrument into operation once again when the
case is securely closed and screwed up.
6.5 Connecting to a PC
The measuring instrument can be connected with an IBM-compatible
personal or laptop computer by means of the optionally-available inter-
face cable. The 9-pole sub-D connector is connected to the measuring
instrument, the 25-pole sub-D connector with COM1 or COM2 (whiche-
ver is free).
During measurement, an enormous amount measured data is transfer-
red to the PC. The transfer does not require activation.

6.6. Installing the software

The optionally-available software for Windows is supplied on a 3.5" dis-
kette. Start the PC. Load the diskette into the floppy drive (usually "A")
and call the SETUP menu from within Windows Explorer (Windows 9x) or
File Manager (Windows 3.1x). Now follow the on-screen instructions
until the program has been successfully installed. Start the measuring
software via "SCOPE" then start the software by double-clicking with
the mouse. Among other things a help menu is available.

7. Maintenance and calibration

To guarantee the accuracy of the GDM-703 over a long period of time,
calibration should be carried out once yearly, possibly in our service cen-
tre (S-2000).
Charging, inserting, changing the rechargeable batteries can be found
under 6.2.
Changing the fuses can be found under 6.4
Use a clean, dry, lint-free, anti-static cleaning cloth to clean the measu-
ring instrument, the display window and test leads.
Attention!!!
Do not use any carbonaceous cleaning agents or petrol, alcohol or simi-
lar for cleaning. They may attack the surface of the unit. Additionally,
the fumes are explosive and endanger health. When cleaning, also use
no sharp-edged tools, screwdrivers, metal brushes or similar.

8. Technical data and measurement tolerances

8.1 Technical data
