Functions and meaning

Self-locking system

The electric multi-point lock 819 locks automatically. If it is a door lock with
automatic locking, the close door is always locked.
1

Functional principle

2
When closing the door the extended latch (Pic. 5 – 2) is pushed on the striking
plate. If the latch is activated, then the control latch (– 1) can also be activated.
If the door is completely closed the latch slides into the latch opening in the
3
striking plate and is extended again such that the control latch remains pressed
in.
If the latch is extended and the control latch is simultaneously pressed in, the
lock (– 3) is released and extended by a spring mechanism. This mechanism
prevents the deadbolt from extending when the door is opened during normal
use.

Profile cylinder (locking cylinder)

The lock is unlocked by the profile cylinder. For production versions with electronic monitoring of the
profile cylinder (Tab. 4), the profile cylinder is a signal transmitter for superordinate control systems
("Status messages for the control system", page 45). Locking with the profile cylinder is not necessary and
not possible. The profile cylinder has an internal stop collar so that it cannot be fully turned.
The key must be pulled out in normal operation.

Access control

Electrically activate outside door handles

With a two-part handle follower in combination with a two-part handle pin, the electric multi-point lock
819 provides access control. The outside handle pin can be electrically activated or deactivated (fail-
locked or fail-unlocked depending on product version) such that the door handle which initially has no
function can be used to open the door. The electrical contact can, for example, take place from the inside
or outside by means of a push-button, magnetic card reader, fingerprint reader or door code system.

Permanently electrically activate outside door handles

At tention!
Permanent application of current only with stabilised direct voltage: A two-part permanent application
of current for the lock, e.g. by means a switching time, may only take place with a stabilised direct voltage
("Electrical accessories", page 60).
The outside handle pin can also be permanently electrically activated so that a door controlled with e.g. a
switch or switching timer can be opened from the outside at specific times of day.
