Detector functions
The sensors from the Control Pro series consist of presence de-
tectors (passive infrared, high-frequency and ultrasonic technology)
with integrated light sensor for measuring light level. All detectors are
provided with an infrared communication interface for starting the
programming mode via IR remote control or the Steinel
SmartRemote for starting the programming mode as well as a blue
LED for indicating feedback.
The following detectors are available:
IR Quattro: PIR presence detector with a pyro (1,760 switching
zones) for detecting movement and integrated light sensor. The sen-
sor has a square detection characteristic and, mounted at a height
of 2.8 m, covers 4 × 4 m for detecting presence and 7 × 7 m for de-
tecting movement. A mechanical reach adjuster is provided on the
back of the sensor module for reducing the detection zone so that
it perfectly matches the area covered. In addition to this, presence
detector sensitivity can be reduced by ETS.
IR Quattro HD: high-density PIR presence detector with four
pyros (4,860 switching zones) for detecting movement and integrat-
ed light sensor. The sensor has a square detection characteristic
and, mounted at a height of 2.8 m, covers 8 × 8 m for detecting pres-
ence and 20 × 20 m for detecting movement. A mechanical reach
adjuster is provided on the back of the sensor module for reducing
the detection zone so that it perfectly matches the area covered.
In addition to this, presence detector sensitivity can be reduced by
ETS.
HF 360: the HF presence detector consists of a high-frequency (HF)
sensor and integrated light sensor. The detector covers a diameter
of 12 m from a mounting height of 2.8 m. Reach can be altered by
means of a boost factor and a sensitivity setting via ETS.
DUAL HF: the HF presence detector consists of two HF sensors
and integrated light sensor.
The DUAL HF is a presence detector designed specifically for
corridors and, with its two high-frequency sensors, covers corridors
up to 20 metres in length with one presence detector. Particularly
important here is the benefit of better radial motion detection
towards the detector as compared with conventional PIR detectors.
Reach can be altered by means of a boost factor and a sensitivity
setting via ETS.
The HF presence detectors for ceiling mounting are distinguished
from a PIR presence detector by their:
- better ability to detect radial movements (towards the detector),
- ability to detect movement through glass, wood or thin walls,
- immunity to heat sources in the detection zone.
- capability of concealed installation in a suspended ceiling using an
accessory adapter (light measurement no longer possible)
DualTech: the DualTech presence detector consists of four ultrasonic
(US) sensors, one pyro (PIR sensor) and integrated light sensor.
The detector covers a diameter of 6m for detecting presence and
10 m for detecting movements from a mounting height of 2.8 m.
Distinguishing the DualTech sensor, it can select the technology or
the combination of technologies for switching light on (initial pres-
ence) or for keeping light on (maintained presence). This makes it
possible, for example, to select very robust scenarios (always both
technologies detecting movement) or very sensitive scenarios (either
technology detecting). Reach can be altered by means of a boost
factor (US) and a sensitivity setting (PIR) via ETS.
US 360: the US presence detector consists of four ultrasonic
sensors and integrated light sensor. The detector covers a diameter
of 6 m for detecting presence and 10 m for detecting movements
from a mounting height of 2.8 m.

setting via ETS.
KNX Application Description for Control Pro Series
Single US: the US presence detector consists of two ultrasonic
sensors and integrated light sensor. The detector covers a zone of
10 × 3 m from a mounting height of 2.8 m. As the ultrasonic signal is
reflected from walls, it is also ideal for small rooms or stairwells.
Dual US: the US presence detector consists of four ultrasonic
sensors and integrated light sensor.
The DUAL US is a presence detector designed specifically for
corridors and, with its four ultrasonic sensors, covers corridors up
to 20 metres in length with one presence detector. Particularly im-
portant here is the benefit of better radial motion detection towards
the detector as compared with conventional PIR detectors (passive
infrared).
The US presence detectors for ceiling mounting are distinguished
from a PIR presence detector by their:
- better ability to detect radial movements (towards the detector),
- ability to detect around materials without requiring any direct line
of vision,
- immunity to heat sources in the detection zone.

Functions
- Output, light outputs 1-4 – lighting switched ON and OFF for up to
4 light outputs
- Output, constant-lighting control 1-2 – constant-lighting control for
up to 2 light outputs in addition to the 2 switched light outputs
- Output, basic illumination – switches to a basic level of illumination
when persons are absent
- Output, presence – switching in response to presence, irrespective
of light level
- Output, absence – switching in response to absence, irrespective
of light level
- HVAC output – switching in response to presence
- Output, photo-cell controller – switching in response to light level
without taking account of absence
- Output, light level – output of the light level measured
- Output, sabotage – cyclical sending of a telegram
(heartbeat)
- Output, logic gate – switching or scene selection on the basis of
the state of one or more input objects
The function to be used (activated) is defined via the "General
settings" parameter window using the Engineering Tool Software
(ETS) version ETS 4.0 and higher.

Light output
The sensor has two independent light outputs. Each light output
can be configured with an individual switching threshold. There is a
choice of several data-point types for the output object. Depending
on the output object's data-point type, input objects can be used to
permit any appropriate overriding. Full and semi-automatic operating
mode can be selected for the light output. The stay-ON time can be
set to a fixed period or the IQ mode can be configured. Reach and
sensor sensitivity can be set to suit any situation. A basic level of
illumination can also be selected for each light output. A slave input
object is available for each output to extend reach.
