TIPS ON CARING
FOR YOUR WATCH
Movement
The movement of your watch deserves
particular care. In order to guarantee
its performances, it must be serviced
regularly by an official Chopard retailer.
Water-resistance
A so-called "water-resistant" watch is
made to withstand daily use in com-
mon situations (showers, bathing,
swimming, etc...). However, the joints
that guarantee its water-resistance nat-
urally deteriorate because of cosmetic
pro ducts (perfumes, nail varnish, etc.),
the chlorine in swimming pools, perspi-
ration, sunlight, as well as changes of
temperature and weather!
That is why we advise you to have the
water-resistance of your watch checked
once a year before any period of inten-
sive use in an aquatic environment, in
order to preserve the movement of your
watch. Nonetheless, watches featur-
ing an additional indication regarding
28
their pressure resistance (e.g. 3, 5 bars
or 30, 50 metres) are NOT intended
for scuba diving! So-called "diver's"
watches must comply with the corre-
sponding ISO 6425 norm in order to be
used for that purpose.
Condensation
W h e n th e te m p e ratu re c h a n g e s
abruptly, a slight mist may form under
the sapphire crystal of your watch.
Generally, it disappears of its own
accord without affecting the smooth
running of the watch. However, if the
condensation persists, do not hesitate
to consult an official Chopard retailer.
Rinsing
Rinse your watch regularly in soapy
fresh water, especially if you are using it
in salt water. For frequent or prolonged
use in water, we recommend a rubber
strap or a steel bracelet, rather than a
leather strap.
Straps / bracelets
Metal bracelets (gold and / or steel) as
well as rubber straps are particularly
suited to use in an aquatic environ-
ment, whereas leather or fabric straps
deterioriate rapidly when in contact
with liquids or cosmetic products
(soap, perfume, cream). If your strap
were to undergo such unfavourable cir-
cumstances as immersion, showering
or intense perspiration, we advise you
to dab it with a soft cloth and leave it to
dry, well away from any source of heat
and light. We also recommend any pro-
longed exposure to light or heat, which
could result in premature fading of the
colour of your strap.
Authenticity
To guarantee the authenticity of each
model, whatever the collection, an indi-
vidual series number is engraved on
each of them and recorded in our com-
pany archives.
