2) Regarding scenario C: Attachment of the
lanyard to a fall arrest harness:
An shock absorber (to EN 355) is mounted on the
lanyard using a karabiner (to EN 362) (pic.3). Then,
the lanyard is connected to a suspension eye (iden-
tified as A) of the fall arrest harness using a kara-
biner (to EN 362) and the lanyard (incl. the shock
absorber) is fastened to the anchor point (to EN
795; see section 3).

3) How to select an anchor point:
According to EN 795, the anchor device (anchor
point) for personal protection equipment must be
capable of withstanding a force of 10kN and meet
the requirements of the instructions for use of the
fall arrest system used. The anchor point should
always be at or above the user's waist.
WARNING
For attaching and adjusting the lanyard, choose a
place where there exists no risk of falling. In a re-
straint system, the anchor point must be selected
as far enough from the fall-risk edge to make it
impossible for the user to reach said edge when
using the lanyard.
The lanyard must be kept taut for work positioning
harnesses, and freedom of motion needs to be limit-
ed to 0.6 m max. Never place it across sharp edges!
While in use, the system's fastening and/or ad-
justment components must be checked at regular
intervals. It is essential to safety to select the position
of the anchor device and the way of performing the
required work such that the free fall and the falling
height are limited to a minimum.
Near places where there exists the risk of falling, it
is necessary to minimize slack in the rope. Falling
down over edges must generally be avoided, as
the product might be severed by such edge. It is
essential to safety, as well, to ensure prior to any
work that there exists the necessary clear space
below the user at the work site (to prevent the user
from hitting the earthen ground or an obstacle).
Only a fall arrest harness may be used as body
support device in a fall arrest system. A lanyard
must not be used without an shock absorber in
or as a fall arrest system. Pendulum motions dur-
ing falls can be avoided by choosing a suitable
anchor point.
USE TO EN 566 and ANSI Z133:
The slings are applied around a climbing rope in a
Prusik knot and used for the positioning of persons.
Such application of the slings needs to be carried out
correctly in order to maintain the required clamping
effect and breaking strength. Breaking strength to
EN 566 at the time of manufacture: 22 kN Knots in
the rope may, in certain circumstances, lower the
