HEIGHT AND TILT ADJUSTMENT OF A/C HEAD

1. Put a 180-minute
tape in the unit, and depress the
play button.

If alignment is required proceed with the following adjust-
ment. See Figs. 72 and 73.

Use 180-minute tape and play it back.
Note:

See that the A/C head (with A/E head included) is
positioned
at the height and tilted, as shown in Fig.
73.
The
A/C head
shall be positioned with its height as
shown in Fig. 73, with respect to the tape in motion.
° As
a result
of the above
adjustment,
the tape should
run normally and the head height has been corrected to
some degree, although not perfectly; so proceed with the
finer adjustment by by using an alignment tape.
1.
Use
an alignment
tape to play back its audio
1 kHz
signal
(its color
bar
for video
signal),
and
observe
the ausio
output
at TP-602
of the Y/C PWB,
on an
oscilloscope.
Slowly rotate the screws @- @ , @-®
,and @
(3P + 8S) so as to obtain the maximum
audio oitput
level (with the least variation.)
Playback
the audio
7 kHz
signal (its stair-like wave-
form
for video
signal)
of the
alignment
tape, and
observe the auio output at TP-602
of the Y/C PWB,
on an oscilloscope.
Adjust
the azimuth adjusting screw
@) (3P
+ 88) so
as to attain the maximum audio output.
Check
again
that the tape is running
normally and
adjust the position of the A/C head.
