° Solenoid drive outputs (7 outputs in total); these out-
puts decide what solenoid to drive and in which direc-
tion and at what speed a specified solenoid should be
driven.
° Motor
drive outputs (5 outputs in total);
these out-
puts decide what motor to drive and in which direc-
tion and at what speed a specified motor should be
rotated.

Note:
Control
1. In the
VC-2300,
all mechanisms
are driven
electro-
magnetically.
In
detail,
individual
mechanisms
are
mechanically
driven through two or more
solenoids and motors to
set the machine to desired operational or protection
modes.
The mechanism
control
circuit, in order to
meet
such machine
design,
electrically
controls
the
actions of individual solenoids and motors so that these
solenoids
and motors may be sequentially (or concur-
rently) driven in the optimal sequence, timely, and for
the optimal duration.
. The
abovementioned
control
practice
of the macha-
nism
control
circuit
entirely
relies on the TMS1100
microcomputer,
which has been programmed
so that
the optimal drive outputs for each mode
are gained in
response toindividual inputs.
. The TMS1024, an input upgrade IC, takes a total of 21
inputs in association with other ICs; 1801, 1802, I803,
1805, and [806.

Control
These inputs are:
° Mode
select button inputs (6 inputs in total);
these
inputs
inform
what
mode
select
buttons
have been
pressed.
°Sensor
inputs
(7 inputs in total); these inputs carry
the information about the sensors which are essential
for the protection/control function.
°System
control inputs (6 inputs in total); the inputs
give the information about the state of a loaded cas-
sette
and
of the
mechanisms
essential
to control
various operations of the VTR.
. Input
to the TMS1024
is converted
there into 4-bit
parallel equivalent
and then delivered
to the micro-
computer TMS1100, which processes the input accord-
ing to stored programs and delivers it as 4-bit output
to the TMS1025.
. The TMS1025,
an output
upgrade
IC, delivers 4-bit
parallel input
as a total of 23 single outputs.
These
outputs are:

has no direct relations with microcomputer (TMS1100)
-based mechanism
