Noise bands on screen
In case of 6-time tape speed
Figure 30.
As seen from Fig. 30, in the case of the 6-time tape speed,
it is after 1-field tracing of the video head A that the video
head B is not at a very beginning of the track B. Therefore,
the noise band in the field A and that in the field B won't
overlap on each other, as it does in the case of the 5-time
tape speed, so that more
noise bands appear on screen as
shown in Fig. 30. What we have said is referred to as the
following expression.
@ Motion of Mechanical Parts
Here is the
description on how the major mechanical parts
are working to get the unit in VS (VIDEO SEARCH) mode.
Fig. 31 reveals the motion of the mechanical parts by which
the unit is able to get in VS mode.

[VS. Mode]
Figure 31.
The motion of the mechanical parts in VS mode
is almost
the same
as that in usual PLAY
mode,
except that the
tape speed of the former mode is 5 times as fast as that of
the latter mode.
The tape speed here is controlled to be steady by means of
the capstan and pinch roller.
