CHECKING OF PINCH ROLLER PRESSURE
@ Checking
1. Remove the cassette housing
2. Remove the open angle of the cassette fron cover.
3. Setting the power switch to "'on" position, use vinyl
tape (black)
to
cover
the light receiving
cells of the
phoio detector (the end sensor and start sensor) so as
to close off light from entering.
4. Push the play button.
Note:
Move the eject lever to lock the cassette housing, and
turn on the cassette switch to do the checking.
5. Set the power switch to "'off" position.
6. Using a tension gauge, pull the pinch roller in the direc-
tion reverse
to its pressure-applied direction, so that
the pinch roller will move away from the capstan shaft.
See Fig. 59.
7. Thereafter,
decrease
the pulling force of the tension
gauge gradually so as to allow the pinch roller to again
hit the capstan shaft.
At the time, read the indication
of a tension gauge.
8. Check
that the reading
of a tension gauge is at the
specified range of 700 to 930 gr.
Note:
Do not short-circuit the slack sensor (attached to the
cassette front cover's open angle).

1. Keeping
the pinch
roller pressed against the capstan
shaft, check that there is a clearance of 0.7 to 1.1mm
