ADJUSTMENT OF PINCH ROLLER IN RECORD/PAUSE

1. Remove the cassette housing.
2. Set the power switch to "on" position, and use vinyl
tape (black) to cover the high receiving cells of the
photo detector (the end sensor and start sensor) to
close off light from entering.
Note:
Move the eject lever to lock the cassette housing, and
turn on the cassette switch to do the checking.

If the clearance is outside the range of 0.6 to 0.9 mm:
1, Get the unit in RECORD/PAUSE mode.
2. Set the power switch to "off" position.
3. Loosen the screw at the pinch adjust lever, move

. Let down the erase protection lever's top to the
operation panel side, and push the record button to
get the unit in RECORD mode.
. Push the pause button to get the unit in RECORD/
PAUSE mode.
. Set the power switch to "off" position.
. Check that there is a clearance of 0.6 to 0.9mm
between the capstan shaft and pinch roller. See
Figs. 67-A and -B.

the pinch adjust lever in the directions A and B so
that there is a clearance of 0.6 to 0.9 mm between
the pinch roller and capstan shaft. Then retighten
the screw. See Fig. 67-C.
