The
VC-2300
has
a built-in video
search
system
which
allows you, even during PLAY mode, to find any program
of the recorded tape as you want in very a short time while
fast forwarding it. With this system, you can catch up and
review any program among the whole recorded contents on
TV (monitor) screen any time you want:
work.

If the video
search (VS) button is pushed during PLAY
mode, the unit keeps up fast forwarding as long as the but-
ton is pushed.
And when the button is released, the unit
sets back to PLAY mode.
®@ Principle.
It is possible, even in VS (VIDEO SEARCH) mode, to keep
on watching the picture on TV screen, though its speed is
much
faster than in PLAY
mode.
The tape speed in VS
mode
is set to be about 5 times faster than that in PLAY
mode. The reason the tape speed is set to this rate is because
it satisfies two points: the picture is stabilized with rather
small
rumber
of noise
bands
on
screen,
and the video
searching is done at rather high speed.
Fig. 28 is an enlarged view of the way the video head
is
tracing on the record track.
Fig. 29 is an explanation
of how the video head A and
video head B travel in VS mode at the speed 5 times as fast
as that in PLAY
mode, and of the relationship between the
video heads and the record track, and it shows how noise
bands appear on screen.
From these figures, you can know
the relationship between
the video head's tracing and FM
envelope.

In case of 5-time tape speed
And now, you may think why the tape speed in VS mode
has been set to be particularly 5 times, but not 6 times or
so, than
that in PLAY
mode.
