ADJUSTMENT
OF
THE
SUPPLY REEL DISK
© Checking
1. Take
out the cassette housing and put the unit in the
loading state in PLAY (or RECORD) mode.
Then check that the loading brake torque of the supply
reel disk is 7.7 to 19.2 gr.
Note.
During .the check, use vinyl tape (black) to cover the
light receiving
cells of the photo
detector (the end
sensor and start sensor) to prevent the light from enter-
ing.
Move the eject lever to lock the cassette housing, and
turn on the cassette switch to do the checking.
2. Put the unit in the loading state
in PLAY
(or RE-
CORD)
mode.
Then, power off at main supply when
the guide rollers A and B get near the heads (full erase
head, A/C head).
When the loading stops, check that
the loading brake
is in contact with the supply reel

Reel hub
disk.
. Set the reel hub (with several turns of a tape on it) on
the supply reel disk, as shown in Fig. 54.
. Withdraw
the tape to the right at almost
the same
speed as the loading speed.
. Now
the tape tension gauge should read between 7.7
to 19.2 gr.
Note:
The reel hub to be used shall be the smallest one (for
E-180).
© Adjustment
1. If the supply torque is outside the range of 7.7 to 19.2
gr. adjust
the spring
tension
of the supply
loading
brake lever.
2. Again check for loading brake torque.

ADJUSTMENT OF FAST
FORWARD TORQUE
Note:
The torque gauge is liable to come off the reel disk when
rotation starts. Avoid this.
@ Checking
1. Remove
the
cassette
housing,
and
use
vinyl
tape
(black) to cover the light receiving cells of the photo
detector (the end sensor and start sensor) to prevent
the light from entering.
Note:
Move the eject lever to lock the cassette housing, and
turn on the cassette switch to do the checking.
2. Set the torque gauge on the take-up reel disk and de-
press the fast forward button.

«—— Tension gauge
3. Turn
the torque gauge slowly in the arrow
direction
so that the reel disk and gauge pointer will rotate at
the same speed; check that the meter indication is at
the specified
range
of more
than 390
gr. cm.
See
Figs. 55-A and -B.
© Adjustment
1. If the fast forward torque is below 390 gr. cm, clean
the
idler
and
reel
disk
with
cleaning
liquid, then
check
the torque.
If still less than
specified value,
replace the rewind idler block assembly.
Note:
After the cleaning, repeat the measurement.
