c) Use your left hand to hold the metal handle. Pull the lever for closing and open-
ing the hot plates towards you to the position „BBQ" and hold it there while si-
multaneously moving the handle backwards and horizontally putting the upper
hot plate down. The upper hot plate can only be moved backwards while the
lever is held in the „BBQ" position.
Note: If you want to open the grill, the lever for closing and opening the hot
plates (L) either has to be set to „OPEN" or be pulled to the front to „BBQ" while
the upper hot plate is being tilted back.
If you want to use the appliance as a contact grill, lifting the upper hot plate with
the lever set to „OPEN" is enough. The lever does not have to be held for that.
In the „OPEN" position, the top hot plate can be opened to an angle of ca. 90°.
10. Placing grillables on the grill:
Place the grillables either on one or both of the plates. For tips, please refer to
our „Tips for best grilling" on p. 118 or the recipes.
CAUTION: Do not use any non-stick sprays on the hot plates, they might dam-
age the non-stick coating on the hot plates.
Note: The HEATING notice might flash regularly in the display during grilling. This
is normal and simply indicates that the set temperature is constantly being kept.
11. If desired, activate the timer:
Your grill is equipped with a timer which counts down from and displays the set
time. To set the timer:
a) Check if the grill is hot and the HEATING notice has disappeared from the dis-
play. The grillables should be placed on the hot plates.
b) Turn the timer knob. You can set an amount of time of up to 30 minutes at
steps of 1 minute. Turning the knob clockwise will increase time, turning it coun-
terclockwise will decrease time. The set time will be displayed in the LCD screen.
c) Once the correct time is displayed, press the button in the centre of the knob.
This saves the set time and starts the countdown. The countdown will be dis-
played.
Note: The countdown can be paused or stopped at any time by pressing the but-
ton in the centre of the knob once again. The countdown will no longer be dis-
played. This does not, however, affect the grilling function, the appliance will
maintain the temperature. To reactivate or fully disable the timer, proceed as fol-
lows:
Reactivating the timer: Turn the timer knob clockwise to increase and coun-
terclockwise to decrease time. Then, press the button in the centre of the knob
again to activate the countdown.
