In the countries of the European Community Area (ECA) the
EMC‐Guideline (89/336/EEC) applies. For this reason,
plants causing large mains interferences (such as conver
ters, thyristor controllers, etc.) may only be operated with
mains filters.
1.1.6

Operation and Maintenance

Preventive and careful maintenance is a prerequisite to pro
tect the health and safety of the persons staying near the
line / machine. It is also needed to keep the line / machine
in good operating condition.
Please observe the information given in the pertinent sec
tions of these Operating Instructions which, however, can
only be a recommendation on our part.
We ask that you bear in mind that the machine manufac
turer does not have any experience of his own in long‐term
operation under the operating conditions prevailing at your
plant. Therefore, please, supplement the data of these Ope
rating Instructions with the experience gained by you during
production operation.
Please have inspection, maintenance, and repair work done
exclusively by qualified personnel.
Please conclude a maintenance contract.
Information on this subject is available from our customer
service or via the hotline telephone number (see reverse of
front page).
Inform your operating personnel ahead of time on mainte
nance work to be carried out on the line / machine. Desig
nate an individual to supervise the work.
Please do not make any changes, additions, or conversions
on the line / machine without the manufacturer's express
approval!
Make sure that inspection, maintenance, and servicing in
tervals are adhered to.
These intervals depend on the specific operating conditions
in your plant and have to be established by you.
Please keep documentary evidence on inspection, mainte
nance, and repair work by entering the inspection and work
completed in the service records of the line / machine (see
example at the end of this chapter).
Operate the machine only if all safety devices are in place
and operative, for instance protective devices, emergency
OFF facilities, sound insulation.
Make sure that these safety devices are serviced at regular
intervals and checked for proper function.
Provide suitable auxiliary equipment for operation of the
line.
