Safety Instructions for Electrically Heated Pumps

Observe the design temperature according to the pump data sheet (usually 350 °C). This tempera­
ture must only be reached for a few hours during a malfunction.
∙
Observe the operating temperature according to the pump data sheet (usually 300 °C). This tempe­
rature must not be exceeded during normal operation.
Pump data sheet: see information in Chapter 8.1.1.
∙
To exclude the risk of burning a guard preventing accidental contact is to be installed arround the
heated pump (if not included in the Barmag delivery scope).
∙
The electrically heated heating plates:
– must be grounded through a ground connector.
– must be fused by means of a suitable fuse.
– must be energized only when being mounted.
– must not be operated without temperature sensor and control.
– must be installed at the mounting place at a suitable distance from all flammable materials.

Heating control has to ensure that the operating temperature allowed according to the pump data
sheet (see information in Chapter 8.1.1) is not exceeded.
Setting of the heating control has to ensure that the heating plates are operated for a maximum of
2 hours with a heater output of 100%
∙
The temperature sensor includes two PT100 resistors:
One PT100 resistor has to be used for heating control and the second one has to be connected to
an independent additional temperature control unit. When the operating temperature allowed acc. to
the characteristics data sheet is exceeded, the electrical heating system must be disconnected.
∙
Each heating plate is equipped with a Fe-CuNi temperature sensor. We recommend to connect the
temperature sensor to an independent temperature control in order to prevent destruction of the
heating plate from overheating. Adjust the temperature control such that the heating plate is tempor­
arily disconnected as long as its temperature is above 350 °C.
