5. Checking the operating readiness

5.1.1

General Requirements

Prior to start-up, the following must be checked:
– Function of pump heating system (control etc.)
– Function of the pump drive (direction of rotation, control, etc.). The function test of the drive is
carried out with separated drive transmission. For this, the cardan shaft is to be separated from the
pump.
– Even rotation of the pump drive shaft in the required direction of rotation. For this, the cardan shaft is
to be separated from the pump.
– Tightening torque of all bolts of the pump product flanges.
5.1.2

Pre-load of the heating-plate disc springs

Before starting the pump and after each stop during which the pump has cooled down below 100 °C,
the pre-load of the heating-plate disc springs must be checked.
To do this, tighten the screws (X) so that the disc springs are compressed completely. Afterwards,
loosen the screws by ½ turn.
The
tightening torque of 10 Nm of the central fastening screw (Y) must also be tested (only for pumps of 350 cc/
rev or more).
