Qualification of Personnel

Have only reliable and properly trained, individuals familiar
with such work operate the line / machine. Clearly establish
qualification criteria, authority, and responsibilities of the
personnel for start‐up, operation, maintenance and repair
work.
Start‐up and repairs must be handled by qualified personnel
only.

Personal Safety Equipment

Please make protective equipment available to the operat­
ing personnel, for example:
∙
safety glasses
∙
ear protection
∙
safety helmet (if necessary, including visor)
∙
safety gloves
∙
protective clothing
Make sure that the operators do not wear their hair long and
loose, or wear loose clothing or jewelry, including rings, all
of which present safety hazards, as such objects are likely
to be pulled in or get caught in the machine.
Please make suitable auxiliary equipment available to oper­
ate and handle the line, for example means of transporta­
tion.
1.1.5 Guidelines for Start‐up
Safe operation of a line / machine does not only depend on
the safe design and manufacture of the machine itself, but
also on the process parameters which your are setting for
your production operation and which are entirely under your
control.
After completion of installation and prior to restart of the ma­
chine/line, a trial run must be conducted to test all safety
devices.
Please schedule test runs to check your carefully selected
process parameters and adjust the individual parameters as
needed.
Special precautionary measures are required during the
start‐up.
During start‐up please ensure operational safety of the se­
lected machine settings and the ability of the personnel to
operate the equipment properly and safely.
