hazards
To reduce the risk of ignition of a flammable or potentially
explosive atmosphere, strictly observe the following warnings:

which have been tested and approved according to national,
European or international explosion protection regulations
may only be used under the conditions specified in the

Oxygen-enriched atmospheres
Explosion protection is not guaranteed in oxygen enriched
atmospheres (>21 vol. % O
► Remove the device from the potentially explosive
atmosphere.
Oxygen deficient atmospheres
Measurements in oxygen deficient atmospheres (<12 vol. %
O
) may return incorrect displays on the CatEx sensor. In this
2
case the CatEx sensor cannot provide a reliable
measurement.
► Preferred operation of a CatEx sensor with active XXS O
sensor so that an oxygen deficiency can be evaluated.
► Remove the device from the area.
CatEx sensor in oxygen deficient environment
Incorrect measured values may be displayed in an oxygen
deficient environment.
► The CatEx sensor is intended to measure flammable
gasses and vapours mixed with air (i.e. O
21 vol. %). If the O
content falls below 12 vol. % and am

operational O
sensor is available, a channel error is
2
triggered on the CatEx channel due to oxygen deficiency.
