d) The limit value sensor - viewed in the direction of flow of the filling stream - must always be
installed in the first tank of the tank system.
e) The return line of the emptying system - viewed in the direction of flow of the filling stream
- must end in the first tank.
5 Connecting pipelines
(1) When connecting pipelines to the filling system and to the tank connection muffs on
individual tanks, ensure that nothing is forced and that no unplanned additional external loads
are generated that will adversely affect the tanks.
(2) The filling line between the filling neck and the filling system must comply with the German
Technical Regulations for Flammable Liquids (TRbF) 231, Part 19 and withstand a test pressure
of 10 bar.
(3) Pipelines for introducing and evacuating air must conform to German Technical Regula-
tions for Flammable Liquids (TRbF) 22010, No. 6.1, be of adequate dimensions, and it must not
be possible to shut them off. The pipes and their connections must be designed so that they
remain leakproof at 0.3 bar overpressure.
Several containers may be connected to the same ventilation and exhaust pipeline only if
the liquids they will store and the vapours of the liquids do not combine to make dangerous
compounds.
Lines or equipment for flushing with air or evacuating air must not discharge into closed rooms.
This does not apply to individual tanks installed for the storage of EL-grade heating oil as per
DIN 51603 and diesel fuel as per DIN EN 590. The discharge openings must be protected
against penetration by rainwater.
