Section 3 (Spacing) of Appendix 6 (Installation conditions) is replaced by the following section:
3 Spacing
(1) The tanks must be installed so that the piping for emptying, filling and ventilation and for the leak
detector is accessible and can be easily inspected. Furthermore, it must be ensured that the explosion
hazard is kept to a minimum and adequate fire-fighting equipment is available (see also Section 3(1) of
the „Special Provisions").
(2) Tanks not equipped with leak indicators must also be maintained at such a distance from walls and
other such structures as well as from each other so as to enable visual leak detection and visual condition
checks at all times. This is the case if the clearance in the area of the leak detection strips (see Appendix
1.17) and the access to the leak detection strips is at least 40 cm. Outside of this area the distance to the
other walls and container walls must be at least 5 cm.
