The installation of the leak detector and the connection of the monitoring chambers for tank
systems must be carried out in accordance with the specifications of the usability certification
issued for the leak detector by the Building Inspectorate.
(4) When used to store EL-grade heating oil and diesel fuel, the tanks may be connected to form
a tank system with up to 5 tanks of the same size in a row or hydro-mechanically unbranched in
two rows (block set-up). To do this, the tanks must be equipped with the filling system made of
plastic and steel, Type „C-B 3" made by Chemowerk GmbH and the non-communicating emp-
tying system Type „WK II" or „WK IV" made by Wilhelm Keller GmbH & Co. KG. When the tanks
are set up in a row (not block set-up), the non-communicating emptying system Type „C-A 4"
may be used. The standard DIN 4755-2
Part 1, Filling and Removal System apply to the emptying system and are not part of this general
building inspectorate approval.
5.1.2
Stored liquids
(1) The stored liquids must not have a tendency to high viscosity
(2) Mixing the liquids to be stored which are listed in Sec. 1 (3) with each other or with other
media is not permitted, nor is alternating filling of the tanks with different liquids allowed. It is not
permitted to store contaminated liquids if the contaminants would lead to
(3) The media to be stored listed in Section 1(3) may not be used as foodstuffs or in the production
of foodstuffs without additional certification of the tank material in accordance with food laws.
5.1.3
Usable tank volume
The permitted filling level of the tank must not exceed 95%. The limit value sensor and/or the
overfill guard must be set accordingly (see Appendix 6, Section 4(2), Point C).
5.1.4
Documentation
The system manufacturer must supply the following documents to the operator:
a copy of this General Building Inspectorate Approval or an approved excerpt of it;
