7. Installation of the controller
Important. Before installation and use, please read this manual carefully to
prevent damage and incorrect installation. Keep this manual in a safe place
and give to new tenants or owners if the property changes hands.
Be sure to observe the safety instructions.
1. Safety Information
Thoroughly read through and observe the installation and operating
manual
Ensure that the power is switched off prior to opening the covering
hood
Connecting to the 230 V ~ power network may only be done by an
electrician working in accordance with VDE 0100 safety standards and
all applicable regulations as specified by the local power supply com-
pany. All cable bushings of the controller must be properly sealed.
The remote handset must be kept in such a way that it cannot be acti-
vated accidentally.
Only activate the drive unit if you can see the door/gate and the area
for it to pivot is clear.
The drives can be stopped at any time with the remote handset (within
the reception range), key switch, inside switch or electronic coded lock.
Install the inside switch out of the reach of children at a height of at
least 1.6 m. The inside switch must not be accessible to the general
public. Alternatively key switches or coded locks may be used.
The automatic closing feature should not be used for especially dan-
gerous entrances. (The automatic closing feature is switched off at the
factory.)
There is a risk of shearing and crush injuries at the closing edges of the
door/gate.
The hinge side of the door/gate must be secured with a rubber cover,
for example, when it is in place to prevent fingers or the like getting
trapped in it.
Tell children about the risks posed by an automatic door/gate (trapped
fingers, etc.). Keep children away from the pivot area of the door/gate
whilst it is operating.
Only drive or walk into or out of the pivot area when the door/gate has
come to a standstill.
Never reach into the moving door/gate or moving parts.
Before starting work on the door/gate or drive unit, disconnect the con-
troller from the power supply (pull the plug) and secure it to prevent it
being switched on again.
Use only the supplied installation material for the installation work.
If you wish to weld the angle brackets, remove or cover the drive unit
whilst you complete the welding work.
After installing and starting the drive unit, all the users must be trained
in how it works and how to control it.
During a power failure, the drive can be unlocked with the 12 mm bolt
in the door/gate mount in order to open the door by hand.
Servicing work may only be carried out by personnel familiar with this
operating manual.
Check the condition of the door/gate at regular intervals. Doors/Gates
in poor condition must be repaired, reinforced or replaced before the
drive is installed. The bolts and door/gate drive mounts must be
checked at regular intervals to ensure that they are secure.
Make sure that it is impossible for anything to become trapped be-
tween the drive, solid surroundings (walls etc.) and the door or gate.
14
The following clearances are considered sufficient for preventing parts
of the body becoming trapped: 25mm for fingers, 50mm for hands and
feet, more than 500mm for the body as a whole.
Never reach into the hinged corners or work on/adjust the drive in
any way when the unit is installed and connected to the power sup-
ply! Risk of crushing!
2. Product description
This drive set is designed to open courtyard or garden area double
doors/gates for residential applications only. Two electromechanical drive
units allow a double door/gate to be opened and closed. It is controlled us-
ing the remote handset supply with the kit or using key switches, inside
switches available as accessories or with an electronic coded lock. It is al-
so possible to use up to six remote handsets. The hazard light (supplied)
signals the various functional phases of the drive.
The movement of the spindle nut on the spindle makes the door/gate to
open or close. When the set limit positions are reached, the drive unit cuts
out.
The various installation positions of the mounting lugs mean that the drives
can be installed on almost all conventional double doors/gates. If the set
force for opening or closing the door/gate is exceeded, the drive will stop
briefly and change its direction (open → close or close → open). The drive is
self-locking which means that the door/gate does not require any additional
lock. The door/gate cannot be opened by hand without releasing the dri-
ves.
