5. Proper use

The drive is only designed for opening and closing double swing
doors/gates for private use.
The drive may only be used if it is in perfect technical condition.
Faults that could adversely affect safety must be rectified immediately.
When they are opening and closing the door/gate leafs must not rise or
fall.
The door/gate must move easily and open uniformly.
The door/gate hinges must only have very little play.
The door/gate leafs must be sturdy and not twisted.
The drive may only be used with the supplied controller.
Doors/Gates that are to be fitted with the drive must comply with the
latest standards and regulations.

6. Installation of the drive units

6.1 Installation tools
You will require the following tools for the installation work:
2x open-ended spanner or ring spanner (13 mm)
1x electric drill
1x spirit level
1x Philips screwdriver
1x tape measure
1x small straight slot screwdriver
1x metal band saw for cutting the mounting lugs
2x screw clamps
We recommend that two people carry out the installation work together.
6.2 Establishing the installation dimensions (Fig. 3 and 4)
Important. Before you start the installation work, installation dimensions A
and B must be found from the table (Fig. 3). Dimensions A and B are the
distances between the hinge pivot points and the mounting point of the dri-
ve unit (see Fig. 4).
Note: We recommend a door/gate opening angle a of 95°.
The details in the table (Fig. 3) refer to an opening angle a of 95°.
In certain installation conditions, larger opening angles (up to 130°) may be
achieved.
Dimension "D" in the table (Fig. 3) describes the distance that the spindle
nut travels on the drive spindle (approximate values). Dimension D should
not exceed 520 mm.
Value "E" shows the time required for this. The smaller the value "D", the
faster the door/gate will open and close.

Collision!
Please note the following:
Find installation dimensions A + B using the table (Fig. 3).
In order to avoid the drive colliding with the door/gate, the mount on the
door/gate leaf should be located approx. 3 cm from the front end when
the door/gate is closed (Fig. 9).
Important. Do not move the spindle nut more than 3 cm from the front
end since otherwise the spindle nut will collide with the lift limiting
screw.
The length of the mounting lugs (4) and (5) can be varied by cutting
them (Fig. 1).
The greater the value of B, the more sensitive the obstruction cut-out
will work.
To achieve a larger opening angle ·, install the mounting lugs with the
maximum possible dimension A. Avoid collisions.
Check for different post/pillar dimensions and the door/gate thickness.
Note: A door/gate thickness of 50 mm was taken as a basis for the
table (Fig. 3).
The left and right drive units should have the same coupling points and
position of the spindle nuts.
In order to attain a high opening and closing speed for small
doors/gates (up to 2 m), the drive may be mounted close to the pivot
point of the door/gate (Fig. 5). A and B have a small value, for example
A = 80 and B = 100.
In order to attain a slow opening and closing speed for large
doors/gates (up to 4 m), the drive must be mounted further away from
the pivot point of the door/gate. A and B have a large value, for exam-
ple A = 200 and B = 180 (Fig. 6).
The minimum pivot point is A = 80 mm, B = 100 mm, the maximum piv-
ot point is A = 240 mm, B = 180mm.
Examples of installation dimensions
a) Small post (approx. 10 x 10 cm) (Fig. 5)
Measured: A = 80 mm; B = 100 mm; C =125mm
Installation of the lugs, for example welded.
The table (Fig. 3) shows the following: D = 185 mm; E = 20 seconds
b) Wide post (approx. 20 x 20 cm) (Fig. 6)
Measured: A = 120 mm; B = 180 mm; C =125mm
Installation of the lugs, for example bolted.
The table (Fig. 3) shows the following: D = 312 mm; E = 32 seconds
6.3 Installing the fixing materials
a) Installing the door/gate mounts on the drive (Fig. 8 / 9)
Notes:
Cutting the door/gate mounting lug makes the door drive faster!
Caution! The drive may collide with the door/gate.
Secure the door/gate angle brackets (3) to the door mounting lugs (4) using
2x bolts M8x25 (1), 2x spring rings A8 (5) and 2x hexagonal nuts M8 (2).
Then install the bolted door mount (6) to the spindle nut (8) using the bolt
(7) and secure the bolt with the split pin (9).
b) Securing the pillar mount (Fig. 10/11)
Notes
To achieve a larger opening angle a, install the mounting lugs with the
maximum possible dimension A (Fig. 7). Avoid collisions.
