Collector sensor well
The collector sensor well must be
A B
positioned at the top left-hand or right-
hand side the collector. For this, install
the sealed-in collector sensor well on the
collector. The control unit collector sensor
is coated with heat-conducting paste and
pushed into the collector sensor well as far
as it will go. Secure the lead.
Fit thermal insulation to the collector
sensor well, threaded fittings and roof/
outlet duct; seal the joints of this insulation;
the material must also be temperature and
UV-resistant.
Also protect the thermal insulation against
bird attack.
Installation example
The system diagram shows the design
A
principle of a solar heating system for DHW
heating.
Air vent valve
Install a manual air vent valve
!
(lockable) at high points of the
system; alternatively route a ventilation
line to a manual air vent valve. Never
use automatic air vent valves.
Safety
There must not be any shut-off
!
devices between the collectors and
the safety valve. The safety valve responds
at 6 bar.
To comply with DIN 4757 the safety valve must
discharge into a container that can hold the
entire content of the system. In case of smaller
systems, the empty heat transfer medium can
is adequate.
Non-return valve
SOKI is fitted with a resettable non-return
valve as standard to prevent stored heat
from being dissipated.
Drain facility
Install a drain valve at the lowest point of
the system.
Expansion vessel
The expansion vessel is designed for an
operating pressure of 6 bar and to be
resistant to H - 30 L or H - 30 LS.
The pre-charge pressure is 3 bar and is to
be checked when the system is not full. This
pressure must never be reduced.

C
Observe the relevant safety regulations when working on roofs.
Installation information
Check to ensure that the roof
!
structure is in perfect condition
(static calculation required and
possibly Building Regulations/Planning
Permission).
All roof work is to be undertaken by a
qualified roofer. When working on roofs,
follow the safety regulations and, in
particular, the "Safety rules for working
on roofs" and "Safety and fall arrest
harnesses".
Transport
The collector can be pulled onto the
C
roof over a ladder. To do this place a rope
around the entire collector frame.
Never tie this rope to the collector
connections.
Installed height
According to DIN 1055, these collector
frames are designed for a maximum
installed height of 20 m and a snow load of
1.25 kN/m² (this corresponds to a standard
snow load of 1.2 kN/m² according to the
ÖNORM B 4000 part 4).
For reasons associated with the
!
hydraulic criteria, no more than
three collectors may be connected
together in series. The individual rows
of the array must be arranged parallel to
each other.
Tools required
You need the following tools for the
installation:
Drill with Ø 5 bit
1 spanner with a width across flats of 15
2 spanners with a width across flats of 17
To connect the collectors:
1 spanner with a width across flats of 32
1 spanner with a width across flats of 28
Rope
Never attach to the ends of the pipes.
Standard snow load for Germany
When installing solar collectors observe
that different minimum angles of inclination
must be applied to the collectors for snow
load zones 1 to 3. When making this
calculation it is assumed that the snow can
slide off the roof unimpeded.

Ice load
The standard snow load must also never be
exceeded through the formation of snow
traps, snow drifts and ice.
Edge and corner regions
Secure the mounting frame for the collectors
outside the edge and corner regions in
accordance with DIN 1055 part 4 [or local
regulations].
During installation, maintain a minimum
clearance of 1 m between the edge of the
roof and the collectors.
