Up to three collectors can be connected in
series. All collector arrays must be connected
in parallel.
Thermal insulation
Use temperature and UV-resistant insulating
material to provide thermal insulation for
the external pipes:
Mineral wool backed by aluminium
mesh foil
Flexible EPDM hose (e.g. types like
Aeroflex®, Armaflex®)
It is advisable to used a fixed armour made
of aluminium sheet for the mineral wool.
The EPDM hose can be finished with UV-
resistant paint. Where required, protect the
thermal insulation against bird or rodent
attack. Insulate all pipes in accordance with
EnEV2002, appendix 5; e.g. for a DN 20 pipe
with thermal resistance of λ = 0.035 W/ (mK),
select a minimum thickness of d = 20 mm.
Apply the thermal insulation after pressure
testing and checking the system for leaks.
Cylinder
In a standard solar heating system, the
collectors connected in series are linked
to the solar cylinder. Observe the cylinder
installation instructions.
Cylinder temperature sensor
The cylinder sensor is fitted in the immersion
pipe of the lower internal indirect coil in the
cylinder. The sensor is coated with heat-
conducting paste and is pushed as far as it
will go into the immersion tube. The sensor,
including the lead, must be properly secured
(e.g. cable tie).
