10 Maintenance

Prior to maintenance or repair work switch off the
installation and secure against unauthorised switching.
In the event of high water temperatures and system
pressure, allow the pump to cool down first. Risk of
scalding!

10.1 Mechanical seal

The mechanical seal is maintenance-free. Some dripping may
occur during the breaking-in period. Regular visual inspection is
nevertheless required. Should clearly visible leakages be present,
the seal must then be replaced.
Changing the mechanical seal (Fig. 10, 11):
Switch off the installation and secure against unautho-
rised switching.
Close shut-off valves before and after the pump.
x
Depressurise pump by opening the vent valve (pos. 1.31).
x
Risk of scalding due to hot flow media!
Disconnect motor if the cable for dismantling the motor is too
x
short.
Detach pressure gauge lines of the differential pressure sensor.
x
Loosen motor fastening screws on motor flange and lift motor
x
out of pump using suitable lifting gear.
Loosen circlip and remove impeller from pump shaft.
x
Loosen second circlip and spacer and remove impeller from pump
x
shaft.
Remove mechanical seal from the shaft.
x
Carefully clean shaft fitting/seating surfaces.
x
Remove mechanical seal's counter-ring with packing from the
x
motor flange and the O-ring and clean the seal seatings.
Press new mechanical seal counter-ring with packing into the
x
seal seating of the motor flange. Commercially available was-
hing-up liquid (a few drops) can be used as a lubricant.
Fit new O-ring.
x
Slip new mechanical seal onto the shaft. Commercially available
x
washing-up liquid (a few drops) can be used as a lubricant.
Assemble impeller with spacers and circlips. Avoid damaging the
x
mechanical seal by fitting askew.
Carefully insert preassembled latern unit into the pump housing
x
and screw down. While doing so, hold the rotating parts to avoid
damaging the mechanical seal.
Observe the specified screw tightening torque (see
CAUTION!
10.3)
Fit motor with suitable lifting gear and screw down the connec-
x
tion to the pump housing.
Observe the specified screw tightening torque (see
CAUTION!
10.3)
Fit the pressure gauge lines of the differential pressure sensor.
x
Connect the motor cable.

10.2 Motor + module

The motor bearings are maintenance-free. Increased noise levels
and unusual vibrations indicate a worn bearing. The bearing or
motor must then be replaced.
The motor/module unit should only be replaced by WILO's
Customer Service. Motors other than those released by the manu-
facturer may not be used.

11 Problems, causes and remedies

For problems, causes and remedies see "Error Messages / Warning
Messages" flow chart and the tables below (chapter 11).
The first column in the table lists the code numbers shown on the
display in the event of a fault.
The pump can be operated in 2 different modes. These modes are:
"Heating" mode (HV)
x
"Air-conditioning" mode (AC)
x
The mode can be preset via the menu.

11.1 Warning messages

A warning is displayed, but the SSM relay is not operated. The
pump continues to run. The warning can occur an infinite number
of times. The faulty operating condition should not be ignored for
long periods of time. The cause must be removed.

11.2 Warning messages that develop into error messages

Exception: If the errors "E04", "E05" und "E06" are
CAUTION!
present for more than 5 minutes, they will be indi-
cated as error messages (see chapter 11).For AC this
is already the case after 2 s.
11.3 Error messages – Heating/Ventilating mode (HV)
A fault has occurred. The pump switches off and an error message
appears in the display. After 5 minutes the pump switches back on
automatically. Only if the same problem occurs 6 times within 24
hours will the pump shut down permanently and SSM open. Manual
reset is necessary.
Exception: Blocking (code Nos. "E10", "E25", "E36")
CAUTION!
switches off the unit already upon the first occur-
rence.

11.4 Error messages - "Air-conditioning" mode (AC)

A fault has occurred. The pump switches off and an error message
appears in the display and SSM opens. Manual reset is necessary.

11.5 Emergency operation (double pump)

In the event of a communication breakdown between master and
slave, the double pump goes into emergency operation.
During the communication breakdown the master continues to run
in controlled mode, whereas the slave can no longer be controlled.
The slave reacts as a function of the previously set DP mode.
If the error is acknowledged, both pumps will run as single pumps.
The slave, however, cannot run in controlled mode because the
pressure sensor is not connected.
As soon as the communication between master and slave is resto-
red, the pump automatically resumes operation in the mode set
before the fault.
