Operation and setting

7.1 Operating the pump

The electronic module houses:
the IR window (infrared window) (Fig. 1, pos.1) for communica-
x
tion with an IR monitor
the LC display with the tuning button for operating the pump.
x
The IR receiver and sender surface must be located so as to be able
to communicate with the IR monitor. Once the connection to the
IR monitor has been made, the green LED lights up on the IR win-
dow (Fig. 1, pos. 3) confirming the IR communication with all
pumps that are connected to the IR monitor at the same time. The
LED of the pump with which the IR monitor communicates, blinks.
It stops blinking 5 minutes after the connection to the IR monitor
has been interrupted. A red error LED (Fig. 1, pos. 2) in the IR win-
dow lights up in the event of a fault. Information on how to opera-
te the IR monitor can be found in the corresponding installation
and operating instructions.

Description of possible operating status
Double pump running in addition mode (master
and/or slave)
Double pump running in main/reserve mode
(master or slave)
All settings on the module apart from "acknow-
ledge error" are blocked.
Pump operated via the serial data interface
(applies for PLR+LON) (see section 7.4).
Differential pressure setpoint
Pump set to constant speed (1800 rpm in this
case) (regulator mode).
Control system ∆p-c, regulated to constant dif-
ferential pressure setpoint (Fig. 3).
Control system ∆p-v, regulated to variable diffe-
rential pressure setpoint (Fig. 4).
The 'regulator' mode deactivates the module
regulations. The speed of the pump is kept at a
constant value. The speed is set internally using
the tuning button. The speed range depends on
the motor power.
10 V
Regulator mode activated, pump speed is set via
the input IN2 0...10 V (2... 10 V or 0... 20 mA,
4...20 mA).
or
20 mA In this case the tuning button does not have a
setpoint input function. The pump is switched
on or off via the input signal.

tion in terminal box)

Menu structure: There are three menu levels. The levels below the
basic setting display are always accessed from level 1 by pressing
the tuning button for a specific period of time.
Level 1 – Status display (indication of the operating status)
Level 2 – Operation menu (to set the basic functions):
Press button and hold down for more than 2 s
x
Level 3 – Service menu (further settings):
Press button and hold down for more than 6 s

If nothing is input after 30 s the display returns to
CAUTION!
level 1 (display of operating status).Temporary,
unacknowledged modifications are rejected.

7.2 Functions

Selectable control modes:
∆p-c
The electronics keeps the differential pressu-
re produced by the pump above the permissi-
ble delivery flow range at the set differential
pressure setpoint, H
characteristic (Fig. 3).
∆p-v
The electronics alters the pump's differential
pressure setpoint in a straight line between H
and | HS. The differential pressure setpoint,
H, decreases or increases in accordance with
the transporting capacity (Fig. 4).
Regulator mode: The speed of the pump is kept at a constant
speed between nmin and nmax (Fig. 5). The
regulator mode deactivates the module regu-
lations.
Pressure value correction
The IP-E is standard equipped with an internal pressure value cor-
rection facility, which is activated and deactivated via the service
menu "dPS".
Setting at delivery:
Pressure value correction = ON
The actual pressure value is measured at the pump flange. The
standard mounted sensor generates a signal of 0-10 V that is pro-
portionate to the differential pressure measured between the
measuring point on the suction side and the measuring point on
the discharge side.
Alternatively, the differential pressure can be measured at freely
selectable points before and after the pump. For this, it is recom-
mended to switch off the pressure value correction function (see
X
section 7.4.3; menu
).
9
Recommended minimum distance between measuring points and
pump:
5 x pipe inner diameter
x
When using external sensors, the IP-E can process the following
signals:
0-10 V (factory setting)
x
2-10 V
x
0-20mA
x
4-20mA
x
The relevant information can be found on the rating plate of the
sensor.
