8.4 Checking the direction of rotation of the motor

EM version: Switch on briefly and verify that the
direction of rotation of the pumps (look at the fan
wheel of the motor) corresponds to the direction
of the arrow on the pump's rating plate. The sin-
gle-phase motors used are designed specifically
for the necessary direction of rotation of the
respective pump. The direction of rotation cannot
be changed. If the direction of rotation is incorrect
in spite of this, the pump must be handed to the
Wilo customer service for checks and repairs.
DM version: Switch on briefly and verify that the
direction of rotation of the pumps (look at the fan
wheel of the motor) corresponds to the direction
of the arrow on the pump's rating plate. If the
direction of rotation is wrong, disconnect the
domestic water system from the power supply and
swap over 2 phases in the terminal box of the
pump.
DANGER!
Risk of fatal injury! Electrical connection must
be carried out by an electrician authorised by
the local electricity supply company and in
accordance with the applicable local regulations
(e.g. VDE regulations).

8.5 Commissioning

After completing all installation and setting work,
the domestic water system can be commissioned
as follows:
• Open shut-off device on the pressure side and
open an outlet valve (consumer).
• Open the shut-off device on the suction side.
• Connect the domestic water system to the power
supply.
• Self-priming pumps can take a few minutes to
start up if the suction pipe is not completely full of
water (leave the outlet valve open).
CAUTION!
The pump must not be allowed to operate with-
out flow for more than 10 minutes (outlet valve
closed).
WARNING! Risk of scalding!
If operated without flow, the water temperature
rises.
• To avoid air pockets forming, we recommend a
minimum flow of 15% of the pump throughput.
• If no water comes out of the outlet valve after
3 minutes, stop the domestic water system and
repeat the filling process.
• After the pump has started and sufficient water
comes out of the outlet valve, close the outlet
valve fully and check whether the domestic water
system switches off when the switch-off pressure
set is reached.
• Check the system for leakages (visual inspection
for leakages and check the pressure on the pres-
sure gauge).
• When the domestic water system starts again,
ensure that the current consumption does not
exceed the rated current.

8.6 Decommissioning

CAUTION!
Risk of damage to the domestic water system!
If there is a risk of frost, the system must be
completely drained.
Prior to a long standstill (e.g. overwintering), the
domestic water system must be thoroughly flushed
through, completely drained and then stored in a
dry place.
• Disconnect the domestic water system from the
mains.
• Close the inlet side shut-off device (Fig. 3a, 3b
or 3c, item 11).
• Depressurise the consumer line by opening an
extraction valve.
• Drain the pump via the drainage screw (Fig. 1 and 2,
item 3).
• Drain the domestic water system fully be loosening
the screwed connection of the flexible pressure hose
(Figs. 1 and 2, item 8) on the tank connection.
• Disconnect the domestic water system from the
supply piping and piping on the pressure side and
store it in a dry place.
Before recommissioning the system, check that
the pump shaft can turn freely (e.g. by turning the
fan wheel manually).

9 Maintenance

WARNING! Electrical hazard!
Before conducting the check, disconnect the
domestic water system from the mains and
secure it to prevent it from being switched back
on inadvertently.
The main components of WILO domestic water
systems are almost maintenance-free. The fol-
lowing checks are recommended at 3-monthly
intervals in order to guarantee the highest opera-
tional reliability with the lowest possible operat-
ing costs:
• Check the diaphragm pressure vessel has the gas
supply pressure set correctly (Fig. 9a to 9c). To do
so, disconnect the domestic water system from
the mains and depressurise the tank (close the
shut-off device on the suction side (Figs. 3a to 3c,
item 11), open the outlet fitting on the pressure
side until the pressure gauge (Figs. 1 and 2, item 5)
shows 0 bar.
WARNING! Risk of suffocation by nitrogen!
Measuring, replenishing and venting of nitrogen
at the diaphragm pressure vessel is only allowed
to be performed by qualified specialist person-
nel.
WARNING! Risk of injury!
Excessive pressure can cause the container to
rupture and lead to serious injuries! Monitor the
gas supply pressure by measuring during the
filling procedure. When measuring instruments
with different scale divisions (unit of dimension)
are used, it is essential to comply with the
instructions for converting!
Comply with the general safety regulations for
working with pressure vessels.
