locks again for safety reasons. During this period, the remote control cannot be used.
7.1.5 Attachment of the Remote Control
The remote control can be:
1 attached to a key lanyard (Fig. 1);
2 attached to the belt of the prosthesis wearer with a clip (Fig. 2); or
3 attached to a holder provided on the socket (integrated in the laminate, attached with buckles or
glued in place; Fig. 3).
Pairing (Establishing the Communication between the C‑Leg compact and Remote Control)
Pairing does not have to be performed upon delivery. Pairing must be done
• as soon as a new remote control (replacement) is used with the C-Leg compact.
• if a switch cannot be effected with fully charged batteries (of both the joint and the remote control)
within the working range of the remote control (30 – 70 cm).
• upon receipt of the remote control with a new battery.
7.1.6 Execution:
Briefly press the start button by poking a thin object (e.g. a paper clip) through the small hole of the
remote control. The joint will confirm the successful pairing with 5 short beep signals.
Fault while connecting the C-Leg compact and remote control (pairing). If several

joints are present in close proximity, this can result in unwanted connection of the remote control with
another joint (pairing). This can cause you to fall. To ensure identification of the remote control with the
corresponding joint, no other joint may be present within a radius of 3 m during the pairing process.
7.1.7 Changing the Battery of the Remote Control
CAUTION
Impermissible replacement of the battery of the remote control. Replacing the battery on
your own initiative can result in defects of the remote control. Malfunction and subsequent unexpected
actions of the joint are then possible. This can cause you to fall.
The battery of the remote control may only be changed by an authorized Ottobock Service. The battery
is automatically replaced at the biennial service intervals. Therefore, please always return the remote
control along with the C-Leg compact.
To change a battery outside of the biennial service intervals, send the remote control to an authorized
Ottobock Service. Upon receipt of the remote control with a new battery, the remote control must be
paired with the C-Leg compact. Your prosthetist is the contact person.
