4 Functionality
This prosthesis is an electronic leg prosthesis system with hydraulic stance and swing phase control.
The electronic system learns the individual phases of the step, allowing for a harmonious movement of
the prosthetic lower limb. In other words, the C-Leg compact can adapt to different walking speeds
and provides knee stability the moment it is needed. At heel contact you may notice the added hydraulic
stance stability. Any unintentional bending of the knee such as may occur when walking on uneven ter-
rain, etc. will be prevented. This knee joint makes it easy to comfortably walk downhill or go downstairs
with a natural gait. Thanks to its microprocessor control, the prosthesis moves in a very natural way.
During every phase of walking, the C-Leg compact offers you safety and comfort, regardless of your
walking style, so you can move around carefree.
The C-Leg compact has two modes: The compact mode is intended for everyday use; in this mode,
an additional standing function can optionally be activated and deactivated with the remote control.
The therapy mode enlarges the field of application of the C-Leg compact and offers additional functionality
for early mobilization after amputation. This mode can only be adjusted by a prosthetist.
5 Application
5.1 Charging the C‑Leg compact prosthesis system
CAUTION
Incorrect behaviour while charging the joint. If you walk while the battery charger is connected
to the prosthesis, you can get caught on the cable and fall.
Take off the prosthesis prior to charging.
CAUTION
Incorrect handling while charging the joint. If the joint is not flexed completely during charging, the
charging plug can get damaged and the joint can no longer be charged. This can lead to insufficient
power supply to the electronics of the joint and result in undefined conditions. This can cause you to fall.
During charging, keep the C-Leg compact fully flexed.
INFORMATION
Prior to charging with the 4E50-* Battery Charger, have yourself instructed by your prosthetist using
the 647G262 Instructions for Use.
INFORMATION
• The capacity of a fully charged battery is sufficient for one full day. We recommend charging the
battery overnight when using the prosthesis on a daily basis.
• Charging is only possible at temperatures above 0 °C.
