4 Construction / components
The Hyperextension Orthosis is delivered ready for direct application and adjustment. The anterior
section is made from plastic-coated aluminum and includes special ratchet closures. These closures
allow the user to almost effortlessly cinch the flexible waistband that is attached to the lumbar pad.
The component kit consists of the following components (fig. 1):
(1) 29P13 Sternal Support
(2) 29R138 Sternal Upright
(3) 29R135 Base Plate Assembly
(4) 29R139 Abdominal Upright
(5) 29P14 Symphysis Support
The sternal and the symphysis supports are enclosed in foam and have a remoldable aluminum core.
Due to the slot in the sternal upright the sternal support is length-adjustable by approx. 20 mm and
can be freely moved on the sternal upright. To this end the screws must be loosened (fig. 2). After
positioning secure the screws and tighten them.

Loss of the support function, injuries due to wear or unintentional release of the ratchet closures
„ At each application, ensure that the ratchet closures audibly engage in the waistband. The
waistband must not slip out under load.
„ Practice the application and removal of the product with the patient.
„ In case of damage or noticeable changes in the product, the patient should consult a spe-
cialist workshop.
