5. Aim the needle and penetrate it into the crest of the pelvic bone under constant pressure using the turning
motion (turning left/right).
6. After reaching the bone marrow cavity (reduced resistance of penetration) pull the trocar out of the
puncture needle by removing the closure lid (1).
7. Optionally you can now attach a Luer-Lock syringe (10 ml) to the needle handle and aspirate blood from
the bone marrow cavity.
8. You can put the additional cap (5) on the needle handle to achieve better handling and to avoid further
leakage of blood from the Luer-Lock connector.
9. Now push the needle further into the bone marrow cavity by using rotating moves to cut the biopsy
sample. The length of the biopsy sample can be checked by inserting the sliding biopsy sample gauge
(7). Where necessary for this purpose, remove the additional cap (5) from the handle of the puncture
needle (2) inserted into the crest of the pelvic bone and insert the sliding biopsy sample gauge (7)
carefully into the cannule until you feel a noticeable resistance. Markers (8) on the body of the sliding
biopsy sample gauge will indicate how long the biopsy sample is in the inner part of the puncture needle
(the distance between the marker bands is 1 cm).
10. Move the needle with a suitable strain back and forth, in order to separate the Biopsat from mark range
and then remove the needle from the bones.
PRECAUTION: In this case avoid an unsuitable, excessive strain, in order to prevent the possible
bending of the needle.
11. Treat the wound.
Collection of the biopsy sample from the needle after the puncture
12. Remove the alternate cap (1) from the puncture needle (2).
13. Place the pusher guide (6) on the tip of the puncture needle in the direction of the arrow.
14. Insert the sliding biopsy sample gauge (7) into the conical orifice of the biopsy pusher guide and carefully
remove the biopsy sample from the cannule in the direction from the distal to the proximal end.
15. Dispose of the used puncture needle in the appropriate manner.
When taking a biopsy sample using the puncture system of the Safe-CUT
follows:
(you should unconditionally follow illustration III on page 2)
a) As soon as you have cut the biopsy sample and checked its sufficient length (see also step 9), remove
the closing cap (5) and insert the LockWire (securing wire) (4) into the handle of the puncture cannule (2)
inserted in the crest of the pelvic bone, until the handle of the LockWire (4) clearly snaps into its place in
the handle of the puncture needle (2).
b) After attaching the LockWire, rotate the entire puncture needle 2 times around the axis of the cannula by
at least 360 degrees. When doing this, be careful not to change the position of the cannule.
c) Then continue as described in point 10 of the previous section.
Storage instructions:
Store in a dark, dry place (humidity 30 – 65%) at a temperature between 41 and 86° F (5 – 30°C).
