6. MAINTENANCE

6.1 Safety Recommendations

WARNING
- Before cleaning or doing maintenance
work, take out the ignition key and read
the relevant instructions. Wear suitable
clothing and work gloves whenever your
hands are at risk.
- Never use the machine with worn or
damaged parts. Faulty or worn-out parts
must always be replaced and not repaired.
Only use original spare parts: the use of
non-original and/or incorrectly fitted parts
will compromise the safety of the machine,
may cause accidents or personal injuries
and will relieve the manufacturer of all
obligations or liabilities.
- A l l a d j u s t m e n t s o r m a i n t e n a n c e
operations not described in this manual
must be carried out by an Authorised
Service Centre, which has the necessary
expertise and equipment to ensure that
the work is done correc tly without
affecting the safety of the machine.
Operations performed in unauthorised
centres or by unqualified persons will void
all forms of warranty and all obligations or
liabilities of the manufacturer.
- The silencer and other parts of the engine
(e.g. cylinder fins, spark plug) become hot
during operation and remain hot for a
while after the engine is stopped. To
reduce risk of burns do not touch the
silencer and other parts while they are hot.
- Never modify the machine in any way.
- Replace safety devices as soon as they
become damaged or broken. Replace worn
blades.
- Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tightened to
guarantee safe operating conditions.

6.2 Routine Maintenance

The following list is to help you maintain your
machine's safety and performance. It shows the
main maintenance and lubrication operations
and their frequency.

1) This operation must be carried out by
your Dealer or an Authorised Service
Centre.
2) General lubrication should also be
carried out whenever the machine is to
be left unused for a long period.
Carburetor Adjustment
Allow the engine to warm up prior to carburetor
adjustment.
The carburetor is factory set and should not
require adjusting. The carburetor will permit
only adjustment of the "T" screw (Fig. 48).
WARNING: Don't modify the carburetor
in any way in such case the engine will
not run in compliance with emissions
regulations.
Idle Speed Adjustment
If the engine starts, runs, and accelerates but
will not idle; turn the idle speed screw "T"
clockwise to increase idle speed (Fig. 48).
