Tests and Approvals
CAUTION
!
The zero point and sensitivity must be tested daily before
every use. The sensitivity must be tested using a known
methane concentration in the range of 25 to 50 % of the full
scale value. The measurement accuracy must be in the range
between –20 % and +20 % (–5 % and +5 % for use in coal
mining) of the specified gas concentration.
Any rapid up-scale reading followed by a declining or erratic
reading may indicate a gas concentration beyond upper scale
limit which may be hazardous.
High off-scale readings may indicate an explosive concentration.
Power Packs
Three different types of power supply unit:
Dräger X-am 7000 NiMH Battery Pack 4.8 V / 3.0 Ah

Dräger X-am 7000 NiMH Battery Pack nominal voltage 4.8 V / 6.0 Ah

Dräger X-am 7000 Alkaline Battery Pack 6.0 V

NiMH Battery Packs
The operating temperature range of an instrument equipped with
a NiMH battery pack is between –20 °C and +60 °C.
Changing the NiMH Battery Packs inside a hazardous location is
allowed.
Do not charge in a hazardous location.
Alkaline Battery Packs
The operating temperature range of an instrument equipped with a
alkaline battery pack is between –20 °C and +40 °C.

Explosion hazard! To reduce the risk of ignition of a flammable
or explosive atmosphere, strictly adhere to the following
warnings:
Do not mix new batteries with used batteries, and do not

mix batteries from different manufacturers or of different
types.
Remove batteries before maintenance work.

Do not replace or open alkaline power packs in a

hazardous area.
Do not replace the alkaline batteries in a hazardous area.

Only use one of the following battery types (size C, round

cell or LR14): Energizer, E93 or Duracell Plus, MN 1400.
